Warning: REG_EPAREN: in library_functions.inc on line 12

hey everyone! I have a slight problem. I am running a pretty old version of PHP 3.0.15 and I'm interfacing with an Oracle 8 database. What I am trying to do is enter a paragraph description of a book into the database. In the query I send I give it the description: INSERT INTO TABLENAME (Description) VALUES ('...telephone systems (Telephone sets, LEC equipment, PBX's, teleconferencing, cellular etc.), Switching equipment...) I'm having to eregi_replace all the ()'s with {}'s because I think that the ()'s in the description is confusing Oracle. However, when I submit this query I get this warning in php and was wondering what it is? Warning: REG_EPAREN: in library_functions.inc on line 12 I get this warning on the lines with the following code: $tempString = eregi_replace("(", "{", $string); Is my syntax wrong? or am I just not doing something correctly?
