I am trying to compile PHP4 release patch level 2, Apache 1.3.12, SSL,
and make it all work with Courier IMAP. Every time I try compiling
Apache using --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a I get the
error in the subject. There is a bit more detail I will get into later.
About my setup and what I've already done:
I have tried doing this with UW IMAP 4.5, 4.7c2, and Courier IMAP all
with seperate PHP4 sources. I had to make the UW IMAP server and
manually move all the headers into /usr/include and the appropriate
(libimap.a and c-client.a) libraries into /usr/lib just to get PHP
working with an IMAP server, I don't intend on using UW IMAP server
though. Since Courier IMAP doesn't seem to use the same header files nor
does it build a libimap.a and a c-client.a (a bit of one sidedness
wouldn't you say to the php developers) I needed to build the UW IMAP
server just for the headers and libraries. I also tried a modified
version of 4.5 with RPMS because it was patched for Maildir support (for
qmail). This still didn't work! So I now must resort to emailing this to
the list and possibly submitting a bug report f I don't get a possible
solution to this mess. I know it's probably me doing something wrong,
but I've even gone as far as trying to edit the sources to define the
reference it's looking for, no good. (I'm not a real good programmer
just yet). So I changed it back to its original state, which it's
sitting in right now, waiting to be made and installed.
Here is what I get from apache:
modules/php4/libphp4.a(php_imap.o): In function
'php_if_imap_headerinfo':
/home/carl/src/php-4.0pl2/ext/imap/php_imap.c:1638: undefined reference
to 'rfc822_parse_msg_full'

make: *** [build]Error 2
Those are the errors I receive from apache.
This is what I am passing to configure:
Apache-1.3.12:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --mandir=/usr/man
--sysconfdir=/etc/apache --enable-rule=EAPI
--activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a --enable-module=all
--enable-shared=ssl --with-perl=/usr/bin/perl --server-uid="user name"
--server-gid="group name" ; make ; make install
PHP-4.0pl2:
./configure --with-apache=../apache_1.3.12 --enable-calendar
--enable-dbase --enable-ftp --with-gd --with-imap=/usr/local/uw-imapd (i
changed this from what I mentioned above) --with-ldap --with-mysql=/usr
--with-xml --with-zlib=/usr --enable-memory-limit ; make ; make
certificate TYPE=custom ; make install
My hardware setup currently (only a testing machine): Intel Celeron 500,
Tyan Trinity S1854 (hey, you never know), 96MB SDRAM, 18.2GB and 6.4 GB
hard drives, 40x cdrom drive (again, you never know), and a cd-burner.
Let me know if I left out anything that might help.
