Don't try to find such a difficult solution. Even HTML can solve this for you! Just put the image tag in your code and specify only the width (or only the height). The browser wil automatically resize the image so it displays proportionally. <img src="..." width="100"> I know it is not a W3 recommendation to emit either the height or width tag. But this way you can solve your problem easily without putting any extra load on the server. Better still - the image will already be in the client's cache and will load faster in the next page!
