There are two different Oracle extensions. One which uses the OCI7 API,
and the other which uses the OCI8 API. ora_logon is from the OCI7 API and
you will only have this function if you compiled PHP using
--with-oracle. The OCI8 API has many more features so you should be using
this API (which you get when you compile PHP using --with-oci8).
And yes, both apis are actually documented.
