wrapping blobbed fields

I am trying to send data from a textarea into a blob and then when retrieving the data populating a row in a html table with the text wrapping as per the wrap in the textarea. I keep getting the record in one long line of text that goes off the screen (ie the horizontal scrollbars show). Any help would be appreciated. Will.
