I removed all the pipes in httpd.conf and now it works fine...

Were there any error messages in the error_log file? Did you
check whether the file (/tmp/sess_*) contained the data?
We fixed a bug which caused a certain effect which happened
only, if you use Apache, a lot of virtualhosts and pipes for
each virtualhosts to i.e. rotate logfiles.
