Just fiddle the configuration of the server so that it recognises .php3 files as if they were .php. In Apache, this means you find this line in the config: AddType application/x-httpd-php .php And add one just like it nearby: AddType application/x-httpd-php .php3 Also, fiddle the DirectoryIndex line: DirectoryIndex index.php3 To look like: DirectoryIndex index.php index.php3 (this means a .php file which will be newer obviously will take precedence over a .php3 file) You should be right from there.
