$data = file("myfile.txt");
chop($data);
$cnt=substr_count(join('~', $data), '~1,'); // change tilde to un-common char
echo $cnt, '<br>';
or burn a few pids:
$cnt=
grep "^1," myfile.txt | wc -l;
echo $cnt, '<br>';
