They do not cache HTML results. They cache the compiled binary of your script, and keep it in RAM, so that the next page hit is simply a GOTO (JUMP) instruction, rather than having to load your PHP script from disk (SLOW), parse it (slow), compile it (slow) and *THEN* finally actually execute it. Zend Cache gives a minimum 200% performance boost. Others more like 20-50% performance boost.
