Derek, That worked a treat - not to try and get the flatness out of my head - that wall was hard! What still has me stumped is that as far as the query-building goes, both methods are pretty much the same yet yours doesn't generate the error yet mine does???? Prepare yourselves as this is the login page to a system which at present runs to 45 pages of Lasso?Filemaker coding which I'm hoping to convert to PHP/MySQL (or MS-SQL as we have that and DB2 too).
