You're off-topic, as this is a list for PHP issues, not SQL issues, but
here's where you should look:

Subject: [PHP] Get current date and time
I have a date and time in my database like this 2001-09-30 02:37:01
Now I want to check if this one is lower then the current date and time.
But how do I get the current date and time?
And do I check it like: where time < currenttime?
