Without knowing in advance the size and quantity of articles, my
inclination would be to avoid putting them inside the database for these
reasons:
1. You can write a text search function that would read the articles for
occurrences of a string using the
strstr command.
2. Assuming this is for a public site, there would be MANY benefits to
making your articles indexable by other search engines, namely more traffic
to your site :)

data, such as pictures, directly into the DB ( which i guess would speed up
loading time) or whther to put it in seperatefiles (which iun the long run
would help keep the db manageable, and thus speed up db searching).... Any
thoughts on this ?
If your web server is decent and the images are of a normal size, then I
would definitely keep them out of the database. Keep the database light
and the search results quick!
