Firstly, use JavaScript to check for values as much as you can. This saves a lot of server time since JavaScript is client-side scripting, and executed at the user's end. Time saved on redirection too. But there is usually data you cannot validate through JavaScript. Here, if the original file (the one taking user input) is an html file, by simply using. <script language=JavaScript> history.back(); <script> you can take the user back to the page with the data filled in as originally. Alternatively, you can create a new php page which fills in the data posted by the user into a file identical to the original one. -Naintara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack Dempsey" <dempsejn@georgetown.edu> To: <lists@rhavenn.net>; <php-general@lists.php.net> Sent: Tuesday, October 16, 2001 12:29 PM Subject: RE: [PHP] Sending a POST without submitting an HTML form use sessions. easiest safest way... -----Original Message----- From: Henrik Hudson [mailto:lists@rhavenn.net] Sent: Tuesday, October 16, 2001 2:56 AM To: php-general@lists.php.net Subject: [PHP] Sending a POST without submitting an HTML form Hello List- I have submitted some information via a form to a php script. If certian variables are missing, etc... I want to send the user back to the original form, but I also want to pass the original information back to that user using HTTP and I can't use GET because I am going past the 256 character limit. I am trying to figure out how to send that information back to the original form via the POST method and I think I should be using the header function, but I don't know the type I want. I am already using header(Location: .....) to send my user back to where they belong, but I can't figure out how to pass the information along with it. Thanks for any tips and pointers.
