problem reading fields from db with quotes

Hi,
I read data from a MySQL database, create the formatted html and
assign all the code to a variable for sending as a html-based email.
But if record data contains quotes, for example if the value in field4
is:
team "Super Dave"
note the quotes around the Super dave. The output will stop at the
end of team and dump anything after the first quote.
How can I get around this???
