The problem is that you have special characters that are interfering with the output. I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago.
Try this:
$fixedOutputValue = htmlspecialchars($outputValue);
print ("<input type=\"text\" value=\"$fixedOutputValue\" />");
This is how I solved it.
Note that putting htmlspecialchars($outputValue) in the value attribute will give you undesirable results.
