http_get_vars, and http_post_vars for that matter

I made some script and it uses the $http_get_vars variable... everything was
working fine on my machine with php4... but when I uploaded it to the server
with php3, it didnt work :(
do http_get_vars and http_post_vars exist in php3?
If not
is there some other way to get the saem result?
I have no say in updating the server's php version, so thats not an
option....
