Confirming that I have the same problem. I did some debugging: the bug seems to be in apache itself. Will submit a bug report to apache folks. There is no problem if you compile php as a static module. Unfortunately I could not get it read php.ini in that case (see my previous message to the list) -- the file is there, but seems to be ignored. Please let me know if you try php4 as a static module.
