and what about this ...
$sql = "SELECT a_column FROM table WHERE text_column LIKE '% $word %';
matching the word in the text ...
$sql = "SELECT a_column FROM table WHERE text_column LIKE '$word %';
matching the word at the begining of the text ...
$sql = "SELECT a_column FROM table WHERE text_column LIKE '% $word';
matching the word at the end of the text ...
