eregi_replace multiple words

Is there a way to have eregi_replace replace more than one word or
character?

$string1 = "I want to remove some of these words!!!";
$string2 = eregi_replace("words want remove", "***", $string1);
print "$string2";
?>
I want something like that. I know that won't work. Anybody know how to
do this?
