hmm, does it work with smaller newsgroups? such as php\'s one which have ~30 groups. when i wrote my own reader (using fsockopen also), i found that stalls are usually because of my own error(eg, article not found, etc) you can take a peek at jim winstead\'s code from http://lists.php.net/snapshot.tar.gz it\'s the code powering http://lists.php.net. i learnt a lot from reading his code!
