Sorry I didn't post this sooner. I've been off-list for a while. The distribution copy of libtool does not play nice with Mac OS X Server. When you make install, it ends up creating a static library. Here's how I got PHP4 to compile as an Apache module on MOSXS: - Download and install GNU libtool 1.3.5 (http://www.gnu.org/software/libtool/libtool.html) - In PHP4 source dir: o ./configure --with-apxs (and whatever other options you want) o mv libtool libtool.old o ln -s /usr/local/bin/libtool libtool Then make/make install. There is one large caveat. Apache starts successfully after activating the php4 module, but I cannot get it to restart thereafter unless I first comment out the LoadModule and AddModule directives for php4. dyld always complains of seemingly arbitrary undefined symbols in the php4 module. I've run into this on both MOSXS 1.02 and 1.2. My workaround to date has been a script that restarts apache with a copy of httpd.conf that has php4 removed, and then restarts again with my php4-enabled copy of httpd.conf. michael
