I am not sendmail expert, so i am just guessing.
the nrcpts=0 in your log message might be stands for "number of
recipients", and it is showing 0.
So maybe you should pass the email address in proper string
(enclose it inside quote), like this:
mail("simos@foo.com", "Subject", "Line 1\nLine 2\nLine 3");
