I am wondering what you all are using to do log file analysis, etc.
We are running into some issues with PHP in that a lot of log file analysis
tools are not very 'php/cgi/dynamic content' friendly. Many of our sites
run entirely thru a single 'script' with templates, etc. so the file that is
requested isn't as important as what the GET query was.
We also use two user tokens--one that is for the session which is passed
from page to page, and another which identifies the specific user based on a
cookie.
Some products taht we are looking at are NetTracker from Sane, Webtrends
Enterprise Suite and Enterprise Reporting Server, iLux (which looks like it
doesn't support Linux), and Accrue's Hit List (which since purchased from
Marketwave is apparently like 6 times as expensive).
Its a shame that there aren't any 'full-featured' open source log analyzers.
The closest I can find is Webalizer--which is pretty cool but still has some
catch up to play before they are on the level with Web Trends, etc.
I have a feeling that I am going to have use something off-the-shelf like
webalizer for the 'jist' of it, and our own tools to extract specific info.
Is this the way other people are approaching the problem?
