Check out the FileSystem functions available in PHP (RTFM), and note that some are, or can be made, BINARY safe. fread() allows you to control the size of the (part of the) file read in, per execution of the command. Strings resulting from that can be output to create (sub) files of a specific size. Reading such files back later, and (re-)assembling one larger output file from several 'sub files' would thus be possible. Making any sense? What are you really trying to achieve? =dn
