$query = "update table set lastname=$lastname, firstname=$firstname
where username=$username";
-> $query = "update <name_of_table> set lastname='$lastname',
firstname='$firstname' where username='$username'";
U have to change the word table for the name of the table, and the ' if they
are varchars.
