http_proxy & ftp_proxy

I've got a development intranet server Oracle connected on a Linux RedHat
6.2 with Apache rpm and PHP4.0.2-dev.
I need to grab pages from internet (Proxy server is a NT4 Server: it's a
constant).
Vars http_proxy and ftp_proxy run from shells (lynx), even Netscape
Navigator when set, and they're in phpinfo().
In intranet, it runs between servers.
From Proxy Server, permission is set to everyone in WWW reading and FTP
read.
But from PHP pages, nothing.
Tips,links or workarounds?
