if you set up the xml_set_character_data_handler(), maybe this isn't called
for <tag />, but it will be called for <tag></tag> (??)
you might want to check that 'cause I haven't :)

no, i don't think so. It means exactly the same in the XML-sense, so why
should there be a difference in reporting it...
