Linux install problem

I am having problems getting Apache to Make after
./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
I get an error on uncompress in function my_uncompress
and compress in function my_compress_alloc
I read that this may be a mysql issue dealing with zlib but I have been
unable to find any info at mysql
I configured php4 with the mysql path and Apache path and
--enable-track-vars
Any help is appreciated
