About a million things. Most likely a typo in httpd.conf
Instead of using the desktop shortcut, open a DOS console and cd to the
Apache installation directory. In that directory, type "apache.exe" to
start the server. Or rather, to try to start the server. The DOS
window will stay open, and a meaningful message will appear...probably
something about a typo in httpd.conf
