Hey everybody! Sorry I haven't been around for awhile (and still am not)...
Please cc me on replies. I don't know when I'll be able to catch up with
php-general again. sigh.
I've been working with mod_php4 for only a day, and am not well-versed in
web-server administration... It usually takes me a couple tries (or more)
to get something right in httpd.conf. So I may have just done something
terribly stupid in httpd.conf, or...
Anyway, on to the problem:
After altering httpd.conf to have a "VirtualHost" on my development machine
(127.0.0.1:81) and pointing that to my local copy of the development version
(CVS) of zend.com, I'm getting a crash in PHP4.
Oddly enough, sometimes it will crash twice in one page-load (perhaps from
images going through PHP?). Even more odd is that the actual output of the
page is correct. Well, as correct as it was before I did this anyway. -- I
don't yet have the full database behind the site. Maybe PHP is crashing in
some sort of cleanup code after all the output has been successfully done...
At any rate, has anybody else tried this virtual host thingie with
PHP4/Apache/Win98/mod_php4?
Am I doing something brain-dead in my httpd.conf (below)?
Should I try to do the same VirtualHost stuff with the CGI version and
figure out if it's mod_php4 versus PHP4 itself or is it obvious from the
crash being in PHP4TS.DLL that that's where the fault lies?
Actually, since the CGI was working quite well for awhile, and mod_php4 was
working okay until I did this VirtualHost thingie, I'm guessing they're all
tied in somehow. But it crashes the same way on 127.0.0.1:80, which is not
using the VirtualHost site. I hypothesized that just the presence of the
Listen/VirtualHost directives could be involved.
Sure enough, if I comment them out, the crash goes away, even with the
mod_php4 still in there.
This is what I would be filing in a bug report if I wasn't unsure of my
configuration in the first place.

httpd.conf bits I'm not sure I didn't screw up:
Listen 127.0.0.1:81 # for zend.com that needs different DocumentRoot
Listen 127.0.0.1:80 # for all my other sites...
<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:81>
ServerAdmin cvs.zend.com@l-i-e.com
DocumentRoot "C:/InetPub/wwwroot/zend/zend.com"
ServerName richard.cvs.zend.com
php_value auto_prepend_file "phplib/prepend.php3"
php_value include_path
"./;C:/InetPub/wwwroot/zend/zend.com/phplib;C:/InetPub/wwwroot/zend/zend.com
"
php_value session.save_path "C:/tmp"
</VirtualHost>
I also don't grok why my attempt to use 10.1.1.1 instead of 127.0.0.1:81
puked, but that's probably in the apache.org docs I haven't quite wrapped my
poor little brain around...
