php.ini

Hey people. Couldn't find any past reference to a similar problem, so here's what I've got. phpinfo() tells me that the php.ini path is /usr/local/lib, so I copy the php.ini-dist file to that directory and rename it to php.ini I change a few of the settings, but they don't seem to have any effect. phpinfo() just displays the compile-time settings, and such behaviour is evident when a script is executed. The current setup is php-4.0.1pl2 on an older install of RedHat (4.2). I have a similar PHP install (same version, but a few additional options) running on another machine (RedHat 6.1), and it DOES work there. Some environment setting I need to tweak? Everything else seems to be working fine. Please copy any response to me, as I'm only on the digest list. Thanks in advance. Gareth
