something that plays through a java applet (or something similar)
so that I can avoid plugins and realaudio type players. Everything I
have been able to find has been extreemly poor quality or the
liscense is way to restrictive.
I use QuickTime (Open Source from Apple) on a Linux box for streaming classical music. It compiles
& runs pretty well. The addition of Media Cleaner & the full QDesign codec brought my cost
up to $800, but you don't really _need_ them. QuickTime can operate as a stand-alone or as a
plugin.
The ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and proposed RIAA licences to legally broadcast cost me about the same amount.
