Unable to load Java Library

Hi I have tried installing the Java module as part of PHP4 but every time I try running a script that uses java (eg php-4.0.1pl2/ext/java/jawt.php which comes a test script with PHP) I get the error “Unable to load Java Library /usr/local/jdk1.2.2/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so” I know the path is correct and the file libjava.so does exist there. I have installed Blackdown JDK 1.2.2 RC4, on Redhat Linux 6.2 I am running Apache 1.3.12 It is the only copy of JDK on the machine I have added /usr/local/jdk1.2.2/jre/lib/i386 to /etc/ld.so.conf and run ldconfig And now I have absolutely no idea why PHP cannot load the library? If anybody can help, I would be very grateful.
