[HELP] redirect browser & pass variable !

I am using header function to redirect browser.
{ header("Location: http://www.XXX.edu/index.php");
exit;}
Although it can redirect the browser but variable had not pass to next page.
So can anyone teach me how to pass variable and redirect browser at same
time?
