I'm not sure if you're replying to my request for help, or his, but the
following applies regardless.
You, sir, can go to hell. I'm not making any $ off this. There are
tons of code snippet libraries out there on the web, and I was simply asking
if anyone knew of a snippet out there that I overlooked for something. I
usually try to help people out that I can, I sent Thomas parts of the news
script I had modified and had working. I just wanted to find out how to do
auto-linking, and simply asked a help question about it. He's just asking
for help as well. There are 124334329 scripts that do this out there on the
web and that are open-sourced, so I'm not sure exactly what you are trying
to accomplish, since the code is already written. He didn't ask you to
write any code for him, he's just asking where he can find something.
I'm not very good at regex's, and I'm sorry my inexperience in that area
offended you so much.
I ended up finding code in the PHP list archive anyway after some more
extensive searching. For those wondering:
$replace = "<a href=\\1://\\2\\3 target=_blank>\\1://\\2\\3</a>";
$ENTRY = eregi_replace("([[:alnum:]]+)://([^[:space:]]*)([[:alnum:]#?/&=])",
$replace, $ENTRY);
will do the trick.
Grow the fuck up, if there's a and get off this list if you're just going to
be a jerk and insult people. Save that for us on the *BSD lists. We
appreciate it.
Chad
