Strip the \\.\ and \\?\ prefix from drive letter paths and rewrite \\?\UNC\server\share\... to
\\server\share\... in virtual_file_ex(), so that junctions and symlinks are resolved and realpath()
and open_basedir see the same canonical path as for the plain spelling. Device paths without a drive
letter, such as \\.\pipe\name or \\.\COM3, are left untouched.
