Morning Andrei,
I started testing the unicode-enforcing thingie ready to throw a few utf8
conversions into the mix, but I'm seeing some anomalies.
For example, if I _only_ alter gtk_label_new() to accept 'u', GtkButtons
won't pick up on that and use it for their own labels - they need the 'u'
representation in their own constructor. At the same time, the
dialogmessage.php script from the demos crashes at the second click of the
'Interactive' button if GtkLabel is utf8-friendly (and not if it's not).
On the other hand, if I _only_ alter gtk_button_new_from_stock, the
buttonbox.php script crashes on opening. Though all the other bits and
pieces function normally... including the dialogmessage.php script that
didn't like GtkLabel changes.
It's only stable if I keep everything as 's', and I can't see any clear
pattern in the instability - it might be that both scripts are constructing
stock buttons multiple times, but this in itself doesn't make sense because
the 'interactive dialog' callback creates and destroys the likeliest
suspects on every call. (It _is_ really destroying them, yes?)
When 'u' works, it works really well :-(
Sorry to be so vague, it's left me clueless.
