Not really, no. You don't need to delve into 'lines and lines of code' though. Just search on whatever you're looking for. Try the respective overrides file first (i.e. gtk.overrides if you're looking at a GTK function), and if it's not there you'll know that whatever's in the gtk.defs file is correct.
