Yes, Glade2 is great tool, but only if you are familiar with how Gtk2 works!
Have a look at the packing tutorial at:
http://php-gtk2.de/manual/en/html/tutorials/tutorials.packing.html
to be clear about how more than one widget may be added to a window. You
must contain your widgets in a GtkVBox, GtkHBox or some other similar
packing widget.
