Hi all!
If you are not already aware, I had submitted a proposal as a part of
Google's Summer of Code to PHP, that concerned the development of PHP
bindings for GNOME.
http://www.kix.in/soc/php-gnome.pdf
(Erm, that document is a sub-set of my original proposal to GNOME and
hence you might be interested only in the deliverables section to see
which libraries I intend to wrap)
A bad combination of events, led to the rejection of that proposal by
me, although I did not intend to, in spite of the fact that Andrei was
prepared to mentor it. The project has therefore been shelved from
Google's program.
However, I would still very much like to work on it, in fact, that is
what I have been trying to do with my rampant extension making :)
Anyway, now that we have Andrei's approval, I can start work on it. Any
help in any form would be much appreciated: Comments, Suggestions,
Criticisms, Documentation or Development.
Do have a look at the proposal and let me know what you think. Once you
are convinced that we go ahead with this mini-project, we have to decide
on a technical issue:
Do we develop the extensions by simply adding directories to ext?
=OR=
Try and develop a method by which, the GNOME extensions can be made into
a separate package?
Oh, and if you're panicking: (Don't touch CVS now!) or (We haven't even
made an alpha yet!) or (What? Who's going to write the docs?!), stay
calm. No-one's doing anything yet, we will thoroughly discuss how to go
about this, before starting any concrete work.
Most probably, we would want to open a new branch in CVS for this, or,
host the project on sf.net or someplace similar. As mentioned before,
all your suggestions are most welcome.
Give it a thought and let me know.
Cheers,
- Anant
