shared object runtime loading

My distro(Archlinux) has the php5.1.4 in the package manager, after
compiling & installing php-gtk2, i saw that i can't load it by default
through php.ini, php pages dont get interpated, i just get blank page.
I guess this is a "feature" because the nature of php-gtk is not web
realated, so my question is how do distro would build php-gtk2 pacakges?
A answer that came across is loading it on runtime, but difrrent distros
use diffrent paths.
what is the php-gtk2 solution?
