Actually, the installer source is available right on the gnope site -
I had a look at this now, also at NSIS itself (apologies to everybody expecting work from me today). Seems like a good system - I'm wondering now what disadvantages it has (if any) as compared to Wix, which is easiest to code/maintain and which has the smallest overhead... mainly wondering because the Wix system uses .msi, which everybody is familiar with and which is better supported in the Windows environment, particularly when it comes to networks. The new PHP installer on php.net is created with Wix, mostly for that reason, and this in fact replaced the original NSIS code.
I'm also wondering where installer scripts should be kept - Andrei, is there somewhere sane to keep them in CVS, either in the php-gtk module or the php-gtk-web module, or should it be stored elsewhere? For PHP, the move to Wix took the code out of php-src/win32/installer and into a completely new CVS module named win-installer... this actually includes all the Wix components (binaries, icons etc) used in building the thing, as well as the scripts.
