As far as I see, it's the same function prototype in GTK2 (defined in /usr/X11R6/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdkwindow.h on my system) and can be accomplished in the same way. I can make a new patch against CVS head (from looking at different CVS status outputs, I guess the PHP5 + GTK2 related code would need to be committed against CVS head?) and send it to the list.
