I think that depends on how long PHP-Gtk 1.x will still be used. I think if there is a valid reason to use 1.x after the release of 2.x then sure it makes sense because people using the 1.x branch won't have this functionality. If there isn't a valid reason to use it after 2.x has been released, then it depends on how long it will take to get to a stable 2.x release. I think Anrdei said on IRC the other day that he expects a first release of 2.x in two to three months. A PEAR class takes at least 2 weeks to get accepted after the code is written so your class wouldn't be out there very long before it gets made obsolete by 2.0. I think your idea is great but the timing is off just a little. I don't know of any reason to keep using 1.x after the release of 2.0 and I think 2.0 will come out too soon for your class to be widely used and excepted. I do think that this would make a great article/tutorial on extending PHP-Gtk for code reusability though. It would be nice to see something on how to make PHP-Gtk easier to user rather than another article on creating an address book. ScottI don't have GTK 2 source handy on this box - check it, I'm 99.99% certain there's a widget in there for this...Yes, I thought I've seen such a thing. Does it still make sense to release PEAR Gtk packages for PHP-Gtk 1.x?
