Popup menu

I've been studying a couple of different PHP-Gtk projects, specifically those using Glade. I've noticed that a lot of these projects include a menubar item with a menu item, then under that is a popupmenu. Whenever I try to create this same type of menu structure in glade, it drops the popupmenu under the window in the widget tree, and not under the menuitem. How do I get a popup menu to fall under a menuitem in a menubar using Glade?
