if php is segfaulting - to help out, you should look at this.

however please try out php-4.2.0rc1 or php-4.1.2 as nobody like fixing bugs on old versions :)
if it is not segfaulting, and just printing an error - pls email that error - we can then either fix it or add it to the gotcha's on the install page.
