gtk::draw_arrow problem

I can't seem to get gtk::draw_arrow() to draw an arrow properly.
All I get is a small black arrow, changing width or height just shifts the
arrow around.
Adding a colour for fill has no effect either.
This is the snippet of code.
gtk::draw_arrow($style, $gdkwindow, GTK_STATE_NORMAL, GTK_SHADOW_IN,
GTK_ARROW_RIGHT, false, $x4, $y2, 20, 30);
Im drawing this over a GtkDrawingArea which has various things drawn on it.
II'm stumped but I still want to draw a nice looking arrow.
