>I'm trying to make sense of your last question see if that's in any way related..? :) Sorry - I know what I meat when I wrote it :) I am using ImageMagick for all my image conversions so I can create XPM from jpg/png/tuff & vise-versa quite easily via .... exec(convert this.jpg this.xpm); etc, its just thats its so slow especially when I have to convert a directory full of jpgs to xpm's before I can even display them in my application. My last question was related in that for this project It would be useful to be able to capture images from either an external device - i.e. digital camera/video , or the windows clipboard, so a user could right-click and 'copy' an image in explorer or photoshop or whatever, and then on button click in GTK I could save the clipboard data to file an them convert to xpm from whatever format came in , strangely enough the camera aspect is easier as there are command-line utilities for many cam/video makes for dumping an image to file. I assume I could capture the windows clipboard via the w32api functions but I have yet to get further than a abort/retry/cancel dialog :) - I have looked everywhere for command line utilities for dumping the windows clipboard to file but can only get utilities that grab text data not binary. A couple of dudes on the ImageMagick mailing list seem to think that it would be a trivial addition to the ImageMagick source to achieve this functionality but thats beyond me for now. Thanks for the feedback its much appreciated! hey - GtkHtml - is that not *NIX only ?? - that would be perfect for directory displays and I would only have to convert the selected image ... ?? There's a theory we can save jpgs and pngs through gd, I've just re-started work on that. I've got newly-created pixmaps saving to file, but veerrrry slooooowly. I also have an app that displays all the pixmaps in a given directory, I'm trying to make sense of your last question see if that's in any way related..? Display, yep, we're stuck with pixmaps (unless you're using GtkHtml, I presume) ----- Original Message ----- From: "firepages.com.au" <fire@firepages.com.au> To: "PHP-GTK" <php-gtk-general@lists.php.net> Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2002 5:38 PM Subject: [PHP-GTK] only pixmaps available? Busy tonight I know ... Can we use any other image formats other than pixmaps ? I am pretty sure the answer is no but I thought I would ask anyway. I have built a thumbnailer for my app that grabs images from a directory and then convert via ImageMagick & exec() to XPM,s for display, it works fine , just slow is all, I have seen other GTK-python/tcl based apps that have groovy image browsers, & I can't imagine that they are converting from one format to another as quickly as they display, or am I just imagining things? err also wondering again if anyone had any thoughts how I could capture the contents of the windows clipboard (binary data not text) ?
