I just started using php-gtk on my win2000 box and I think it's great. I
hope this project continues strong.
IS This Feasible?
==============
Do the developers on this list think it's a possibility that in the next few
years I'll be able to
-Write win32 client app in PHP-GTK that can be easily downloaded and
installed (either by a compiled exe or easily distributed php run-time
environment).
-Let that client communicate to a server side php script
-Let the client and server scripts communicate seemlessly passing by
complicated php data sets that are serialized with php's serialize()
function.
-Use Timers and Other event generating mechanizms to fire methods on the
remote server.
-Position php-gtk forms using the Zend IDE
It would be so great to have all of that capability coupled with the
simplicity of the php language. I'd have all the other programmers here
using it.
I would feel more comfortable with that situation than using webservices or
.Net remoting, RMI etc. Because it builds on the basic webserver application
model
that we're already familiar with.
After that the only other thing I could hope for after that is if GTK
widgets/features for developing printed reports. PHP is great!
Great Work!
