newbie: silly question

from An ex ASP coder whose now using php/smarty - Am dabbling with gtk to ditch some VB applications... however getting lost in a few places! Getting a window to work with editing a contact however am having the following problems ! 1) getting the "form" data and inserting it into a datbase - Ok button looking for equivelant to frmContact.txtAddress.text in vb 2) can't select an item in a combobox (like selected in the html <select> tag 3) Can open more than one window ie a few contacts open but stuck as to how to "save" the data - ie get the values from the elements Has anyone got a sample application with database insert/update etc - please??
